No. Your vault is encrypted in your browser before it reaches our servers using AES-256 encryption. We store ciphertext only. Without your encryption key, the data is meaningless to us — and to anyone else.
No, and we're clear about that. Holdfast is a secure delivery mechanism for the information and messages you want to pass on. It does not create legal documents. We strongly recommend having a formal will alongside your Holdfast vault.
Your vault stays intact. If you cancel a paid plan, your account moves to free tier — you can still unlock and read your vault, but editing is locked until you resubscribe. Your dead man's switch and delivery instructions remain active regardless of plan. If you want your data removed entirely, you can request deletion at any time and we will comply fully with GDPR Article 17 — the right to erasure.
All data is stored on UK-based servers. We do not transfer data outside the UK or EEA. Holdfast is registered with the ICO as a data controller.
